Peacehaven overcame Walton in what turned into quite a physical match in a surprisingly rain free game..

We all travelled up to Walton thinking we were going to be sent home but it appeared the only place that hadn't been rained on was those lucky Walton residents.

The first half started brightly and Peacehaven had the majority of the play with four early corners. Walton & Hersham struggled to get the ball out of their half which allowed Peacehaven to pay a nice passing game and look for a good opening.

Walton's no 8 seemed to want an early bath having been given a yellow in the first 5 mins, he then followed it up with a blatant trip which he got a final warning for and 3 mins later he shoved Walker in the back for his second yellow and he was back in the dressing room after 15 mins.

Peacehaven's first half goal came as a Brotherton free kick was swept across from the edge of the box. The first header was blocked but the ball dropped to Walker who burrowed it home for 0-1. Peacehaven continued to have a lot of the play with a couple of chances for Walton but the first half ended with no more goals.

The second half was a lot more physical with Walton having stirred themselves to get a bit more involved. Peacehaven still had the majority of the play and eventually Brotherton played Walker through who ran with the ball shooting between the onrushing keeper and defender from 20 yards to make it 0-2 an rack up Peachaven's 100th goal of the season and 78th in the league. Walton & Hersham were quickly back in the game within a couple of minutes as a corner was nodded downwards and in for 1-2.

Walton could sniff a point and were throwing everything at it especialy Walton's No 10 who introduced a couple of interesting challenges on Brotherton and Metcalfe that sparked a multi player debate. He escaped with a yellow card.

Walton continued to press but their best effort was a long range strike which was hit well but straight at Di Bernado.

A tough game and next up is fellow playoff chalengers Folkestone Invicta who visit us on Saturday at 3pm. Come along and support the Magpies, don't forget we have several half price admission offers this weekend you can read about here http://bit.ly/1hFndPu
