An end to end battle finished with a fair result...

After last Saturday's defensive effort Peacehaven returned to there more free flowing game and Tooting & Mitcham United (TMU) bought plenty to the game.

The first half started as the whole game was to continue at a frenetic speed. In the first minute Peacehaven broke down their right and Brotherton found himself just inside the right side of the area and his drilled shot pinged off the post. The ball continued to pinball round the area and somehow TMU escaped.

Five minutes into the half Pinock for TMU was put through for what seemed like a one on one chance. Hesitating for a moment though gave enough time for Craig Richards to cut across and relieve him of the chance.

The remainder of the half was a crowd pleaser with few fouls and plenty of good football from both sides. As half time approached Pinock received the ball in the area and placed a low shot past Di Bernado to take the lead. With Peacehaven thinking they would go in at half time 1-0 down a fast break away from the restart put McCreadie through in the left side of the area with a low equaliser. TMU had one final chance to go in 2-1 up but whistled there shot just wide of the bar and post.

The second half did not let up the pace. TMU cam out strongest for the first 10 minutes probing the Peacehaven defence and a fierce shot from 20 yards striking the bar.

Peacehaven then came back into the game and some got interplay in midfield drew in slightly more of the TMU defence than they probably planned. A quick ball to Brotherton who had found space saw him bearing down on goal. As TMU's keeper approached Brotherton calmly curled the ball around him and into the far corner for 2-1 to Peacehaven.

On the hour Peacehaven's Steve Metcalfe received a straight card. There was no malice in the tackle, and whilst he did get the ball before the player, with two feet off the floor the referee wasn't given too many options.

Josh Jones then came off a few minutes later for Dan McLaughlin. Despite being down to 10 men McCreadie continued to cause trouble upfront for the TMU defence. At the other end when a TMU strike looked like it was about to ripple the net Di Bernado sprung to his top right to push it away for a corner.

The game continued in it's end to end style and eventually a ball over the top of the Peacehaven defence found Lee Hail 4 yards out in space to roll the ball through Di Bernado's legs for 2-2.

The game finished 2-2 which was a fair result in a game thoroughly enjoyed by the growing crowd.
