With our midweek exploits in Worthing over we all knew Leatherhead away would be a tougher encounter. Unbeaten and having not conceded a goal an away trip to Surrey was always going to be different.
Peacehaven showed though that after the attacking exploits they also have a solid defence. Attacking opportunities were slender with Leatherhead having much of the ball. Peacehaven's midfield closed out many of the Leatherhead attacks before they could get going and where they didn't the defence held firm.
Peacehaven had the only real chance to score in the first half having countered, Brotherton found himself free at the back post. His shot though could only find the keeper much to the relief of the Tanners.
Craig Richards and Ash Jones continued to defend inswinging crosses and stop Leatherhead even having a shot on target in the first half. Lawley struck well in the dying moments and Leatherhead's keeper managed to reach the ball and it span almost in slow motion over the cross bar.
In the second half again whilst attacking chances were limited the defence and midfield continued to stop Leatherhead mounting many serious attacks.
The most likely scoring opportunity came from a loose ball and Bradbrook's half volley from 25 yards striking the bar. Moments later a Tait strike left Di Bernado stretching to his top left to tip the ball over for a corner.
The introduction of McCreadie and McLaughlin for Brotherton and Walker added some new speed and determination.
McCreadie continued to hassle the defence from the opportunities which were put his way pushing Leatherhead back, whilst some solid defending including literally throwing there body between the ball and the goal kept leatherhead at bay.
Still unbeaten the Magpies are at home to Tooting & Mitcham on Wednesday at 7.45pm
