If anyone had said in July...

after 2 games you'd have 4 points, be 4th and have a GD of +4 we'd have bitten your arm off but here we are.

Peacehaven went to Worthing looking for a good display and the travelling support were rewarded with that and 3 points.

The first 20 minutes were dominated by Peacehaven attacks and whilst Worthing maintained a fairly resilient defence it was only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken.

The Peacehaven pressure told when a break just inside the area left a Worthing defender isolated in trying to stop a Peacehaven attack. With arms and legs being used to defend and both players ending upon the pitch the ref pointed to the spot. Charlie Walker placed to the penalty well into the corner to open up the scoring after 32 minutes.

Mark Knee in Worthing's defence brought down Brotherton again abruptly, and Peacehaven were awarded a free kick and Knee a yellow card after 39 minutes. Joe Dryer's swinging free kick met Tom Burton's head to make it 2-0 to send Peacehaven in happy at half time.

The second half started at a slightly lower pace but it wasn't too long before the pressure began to mount again. Worthing found a little more time and space and began to mount some more meaningful attacks bringing Di Bernado into action.

The game was all but finished when Tom Lawley added a third for the Magpies some good build up play from Burton and Walker left Lawley with the job of tucking the ball away into an exposed goal.

Later in the second half Walker and Brotherton came off for Akehurst and McCreadie. The game was slowing and Peacehaven were now happy to sit back and go on the counter. Worthing continued to mount attacks and there closest effort whistled across Di Bernado and just past the far post after 85 minutes. McCreadies speed against a weary defence eventually told. His shot in the 90th minute having rounded the keeper was cleared off the line but having followed up well he blasted the ball into the top corner for 0-4.

Next on Saturday Peacehaven travel to Leatherhead. This will be a big test for the boys and we'll enjoy seeing how it goes...
