Astonishingly, their last away game in the League was the demolition of East Grinstead six weeks ago, and there where echoes of that performance here at Godstone Road.
With their first attack, Lee Flavin's effort from outside the box squeezed past Josh Heyburn and into the bottom corner.
Peacehaven seemed unmoved by this, and were soon making inroads into the home defence. First Carl Dunk played a perfect ball to Ryan Bradley, and he chipped the towering figure of Rob O'Hara in the home goal, only to see his effort go inches wide but with their next attack Peacehaven were level. This time Rob O'Toole's clever pass found Bradley in the area, and he slid the ball under the keeper to level the scores.
The pressure was starting to mount on Lingfield as they were losing any battle there was in midfield, and they nearly fell further behind when a long range shot from Wes Millis hammered against the bar, and away to safety.
Peacehaven's where making light work of the heavy playing surface, and their fluent passing suggested the lead would soon be extended. Lingfield where relying on the counter attack, and it nearly paid dividends midway through the half. The pacey Dean Roye found his way down the left, and his low cross caused panic in the Haven area, with the ball cleared off the line twice before being cleared to safety.
As we approached half time, the goal which Peacehaven had been threatening to score finally arrived. Wes Millis beat two defenders out near the left corner flag, and his low cross found Carl Dunk in the six yard box, who angled the ball past O'Hara to give them a deserved lead.
Ten minutes after the break they were two goals in front when Rob O'Toole did well to beat Alfie Dean out on the left, and his pass arrived perfectly for Ryan Bradley who fired past O'Hara for his second of the game.
Lingfield had suffered a very heavy defeat at the weekend, and you sensed that another large score could be on the cards but, to their credit, they managed to regroup and where soon back in the game. A through ball split the Haven defence, and Flavin held his nerve to fire past Heyburn.
From then on the home side were looking to pour foward, trying to salvage the game - whilst Peacehaven where happy to absorb the pressure, and hit them on the break. Haven survived a furious penalty appeal for hand-ball 10 minutes from time but all the while Lingfield's defence were playing a very high line, which was a dangerous game to play against a pacey Peacehaven attack who were eager to break at any chance.
With injury time looming the game was put beyond doubt. Lingfield had pushed forward in numbers for a free kick which was immediately cleared to Wes Millis who, after reaching the edge of the box, squared to the unmarked Jack Loraine who made no mistake from close range.
It was a convincing performance from Peacehaven, and the victory stretches their unbeaten away League run to 19 games.
