The Magpies returned from Aveley empty handed from what was an evenly balanced contest...

With Jamie Brotherton and Dan McGlaughlin returning from injury both went straight into the starting line up replacing James Fraser and Max Agnoly, The Magpies proved equal to Gray's and much of the game was a midfield contest with few chances for either team on a bumpy pitch.

Di Bernado was called into action first when Grays went through one on one and he was able to block the strikers shot to keep a clean sheet. An early yellow card for Marzetti led to an early substitution as he departed for Metcalf to come in for a straight swap with Grays continuing to press down their left.

Peacehaven then had a good spell and looked to have taken the lead when Callum Saunders broke free in the area and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper only for Josh Jones, who was following and hit the ball firmly to make sure to be adjudged offside. Later in the first half Grays continued to break quickly but Peacehaven were able to limit them to a few crosses that were dealt with well.

Early in the second half Grays looked to have scored as a rebound from a Di Bernado save squirmed loose but was adjudged to have been scored from an offside position. Peacehaven then had another good spell with a close range effort blocked by Grays keeper and then the following corner fell to El Abd whose strike hit the outside of the post. Cotton followed up shortly after to get his head to a cross but the ball was slightly above his job and the header rose over the bar. Tom Burton entered the fray for Callum Saunders to try and squeeze a winner out of the game.

In the end the luck fell to Grays. With the game drawing to a close and looking like a draw would be fair to both sides Grays swung the ball in, Di Bernado made the save but the follow up was toe poked into the net.

Peacehaven continue to show that they are up to the challenge but need to make their chances in front of goal count. Over the next few weeks the Magpies have several home games starting with the Metropolitan Police and then Bury on Saturday so come along and support them in a season where the home games will really count. BT Sports will be on in the bar pre and post match.
