Peacehaven met East Preston at Culver Road Lancing for the inaugural Sussex Community Shield sponsored by Premier Sports.
The first half saw Marc Knee make his debut for Peacehaven following his arrival from Worthing. Peacehaven controlled much of the first half but this led to a very compressed game in half of the pitch. A lot of constructive play kept East Preston back in their own half but East Preston defended well and Peacehaven couldn't find the final ball to test East Preston's goal.
James Fraser left the game early with a groin strain and was replaced by Tom Burton. Towards the end of the first half some space opened up and Jamie Brotherton broke free. He bent his shot round into the far corner only to be deemed offside.
The second half East Preston had more of the possession and a late chance falling to Darren Boswell dipped and curled just wide of Di Bernado's goal. Max Agnoly made his competitive debut having also played in last week's friendly against South Park. In the final minutes Peacehaven had a chance to grab the shield as Charlie Pitcher was put through one on one but his chip was palmed away by Collick.
With no goals at full time the match went to penalties with East Preston stepping up first. Di Bernado saved two of EP's penalties and another went over the bar. With Peacehaven's Lawley, Josh Jones and Burton scored to make it a convincing shootout that finished 3-1 to Peacehaven.
