WOW! This season has been one long shock and if you'd said at the beginning we'd play our last game at the Amex....

I would have chuckled, but having said that I thought we'd be in a relegation battle at this stage. Well thank goodness I'm nothing to do with picking the team.

Firstly massive hats off to the players and management who have got the club, and the town, to this stage. Everyone associated with the club is very proud and so is the rest of the town, especially the loyal fans. We hope lots of people will join us at the AMEX to celebrate the team at the final in May.

Last night saw Peacehaven at their fluent best after an early surge from Worthing in the first 10 minutes of the game. Well cheered on by their supporters Worthing's strategy of playing high and a fast tempo saw them create some good chances. The best being Lloyd Dawes curling screamer that cannoned back off the post to the magpies relief. After 15 minutes Peacehaven had settled into their game and opted to counterattack by playing some long balls over the top. Peacehavens pace and Worthings high strategy then created several chances for Walker and Burton to test out Worthings keeper.

Burton eventually found the net after being put through and despite the attention of two defenders and the on rushing keeper squeezed the ball through to make it 1-0. Worthings best chance came late on as they were put through but the onrushing Di Bernado created a barrier down low to block the shot. Shortly after Walker broke through to tuck in a second and send the magpies in happy at half time with McGlaughlin also hitting the post.

Early in the second half again McGlaughlin found himself free in the box and scored with ease for his first goal of the season.

Worthing then had a chance to come back into the game when Ash Jones caught a Worthing player for a penalty. This was well placed by the Worthing striker for 3-1. The next 10 minutes saw a renewed Worthing. They smelled a chance to get back into the game and had Peacehaven on the back foot. Several good chances were missed and then Peacehaven regained control.

A clumsy challenge on the edge of the box set up Josh Jones for a free kick. He's brilliant curling effort went round the wall and crashed in the top corner off the underside of the bar for 4-1. This seemed to crush Worthings energy and then it was pretty much all magpie action.

A continued stream of attacks down the left wing created several chances with Jones and Walker combining well. Hammond, Saunders and Millis for Brotherton, Burton and Cotton all joined as subs to add some fresh legs to a fast paced game.

The combination play between Walker and Jones led to two more good goals. Jones to Walker who then went on a 20 yard run to curl the ball into the far corner and finally a drive across the box saw Jones 6 yards out to lift over the keeper for 6-1.

Worthing had had to play their youth team keeper in we think his first senior game. To be honest it didn't matter he did nothing wrong in the whole match Peacehaven's goals were all well placed and timed.

I haven't mentioned every player in the report but everyone played their black and white socks off last night. It was a great display to watch and a worthy way to reach the AMEX in May.
