Marshall hits hat trick in eight goal thriller

PEACEHAVEN striker Josh Marshall found the back of the net three times but had to settle for a draw.

In recent seasons games between the two sides have been full of drama and passion, and Tuesday’s game against the two foes did not disappoint.

Uckfield took the lead with just 12 minutes played when Peacehaven failed to clear a throw in.

But just four minutes later Charlie Lambert levelled things up after good work from Bradley Bant who found Josh Marshall whose cross was met by Lambert to make it 1-1.

And then Marshall hit two goals in the 20th and 22nd minutes to put Haven ahead by 3-1.

In a game which was turning into a breathless encounter, Uckfield pulled a goal back from the spot.

Before halftime, Scott Marshall, Mikey Lloyd, Tyler Capon and Josh Marshall all went close.

With two minutes of added time played at the end of the first half, Alieu Secka made an outstanding save to keep Peacehaven in the game.

Halftime: Peacehaven & Telscombe 3, AFC Uckfield 2.

Not surprisingly the second period was not so dramatic as the first half.

On 66 minutes Josh Marshall went close when the Uckfield keeper made a first class save to deny the Haven hit man.

On the 71st minute Secka made another outstanding save to keep the home side in the game.

And then with 75 minutes played, Uckfield were level.

But the drama was not about to end for the 183 fans when In the 81st minute Uckfield took the lead with a well taken header.

Three minutes later Capon was within a hares’ breath when he hit the post. Did Peacehaven have another late rally in their locker?

And then with just two minutes left to play Marshall hit a brilliant free kick to complete his hat trick and make it 4-4. What a game!
