Would you like to become a director of Peacehaven & Telscombe Community FC?

ON THURSDAY January 28 it will be the football club’s AGM celebrating its fourth year as a Community Football Club.

When the new Community Club was launched in 2016 which incorporated and brought together the youth and senior sections of the football club, a board of directors was put in place to oversee the transition.

As part of the club’s constitution as registered with the Financial Conduct Authority on May 3 2016 and in line with the Co-operative and Community Benefits Societies Act 2014, one third of the club’s directors must offer to stand down at the club’s AGM. This then gives opportunities to any club member to put themselves forward as a candidate and possible subsequent board member.

Under the rules, the minimum number of directors the club must have is six and the maximum is 14. Currently Peacehaven & Telscombe Community FC has 13 directors who are:

Sue Norwood, chair. Clive Blunt, vice chair. Scott Burns, youth chair. Mark Shutt, director of football. Stanley Bernard, treasurer. Dan Palmer, senior club secretary. Phil Merry, commercial director. Sue Knevitt, meeting and youth secretary. Mike Bradbury, Steve Davies, Dave Croydon, Tim Maguire and Adam Jones.

Those directors standing down at the AGM are: Sue Norwood, Phil Merry and Steve Davies.

Mike Bradbury was co-opted onto the board at the end of 2019 and Sean Plummer resigned from the board at the beginning of 2020. Sue Norwood will make herself available for re-election but Phil Merry will be resigning because he is moving away from the area and Steve Davies is stepping down but will continue as manager of the club's under 17 side.

Club chair Sue Norwood said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Phil for all his hard work on the website and maintaining quick responses to all our stories.” “Our website is used by many of our fans, and he will be hard to replace.” “We will miss him and hope he will still be seen on our terraces when he comes back to Sussex to visit.”

Mrs Norwood continued: "I would like to also take this opportunity to thank Steve Davies for all his hard work as a board director. Steve has managed and looked after the finances during this period and is very often seen covering the bar to help raise funds at many functions and reserve games."

If you would like to be considered for one of the four board places available at Peacehaven & Telscombe Community Football Club, please complete the application form by clicking on the link below. If there are more applications than places available a secret ballot, which only members can participate in, will take place at the AGM on Thursday January 28 2021.

The club is keen to fill the role that Phil Merry currently undertakes which is predominantly that of webmaster. If you have the necessary skills to fulfil this role, the club is very keen to hear from you.

Closing date for applications: Friday January 22 2021 at 5pm.
